Journeys Through Search

Legacy system to Salesforce migrationEvery record out of the old system and into a CRM your team can use.

Spreadsheets, an old database, an EMR export, a phone system's call history, a system someone built in-house. Legacy data has its own shape, not a CRM's. We have moved data from all of these into Salesforce, building the objects it needs, pulling documents through APIs where there is no export, and keeping the history readable.

  • Spreadsheets, databases, EMR exports, phone and texting history
  • Custom objects built for data that does not fit standard ones
  • Documents pulled through APIs and stored in file storage

How a legacy migration runs

  1. 1
    Get the data out

Exports, database extracts or the system's API, including documents

  2. 2
    Give it a home

Storage reviewed, custom objects built, fields mapped

  3. 3
    Load and reconnect

Loaded and checked, then triggers and connected apps turned back on

Data migration from a legacy system into Salesforce

The first problem with a legacy system is getting the data out. Some give clean exports. Old databases give tables that have to be joined back into records. Some systems only hand over documents through an API, so we pull them through it.

The second problem is fit. A homegrown system has its own idea of what a record is. Salesforce can be changed in any way, so before the load we review storage, plan the custom objects the data needs, and build them, instead of forcing old data into fields that mean something else.

Documents go into Salesforce Files, which count against file storage rather than data storage, and orphaned data is cleaned up on the way. Integrations and triggers that were paused for the load are turned back on and tested after it.

What's included

What legacy system to Salesforce migration includes

Spreadsheets

Business accounts, contacts and lists bulk imported from spreadsheets, cleaned and deduped first.

Old databases

Tables joined back into records, codes translated into picklist values, and keys kept as External IDs.

EMR exports

Historical records from Kipu and Sunwave uploaded to Salesforce, with assessment fields mapped. We sign BAAs for healthcare work.

Phone and texting history

Historical call data and SMS history loaded as activities on the right records, with long call notes on a custom activity object.

Homegrown systems

Data that fits no standard object gets custom objects, planned from a storage review and built before the load.

Documents through APIs

Where a system only offers documents through its API, we pull them into Salesforce Files on the right record.

Storage planned

Files kept in file storage, not data storage, and orphaned data cleaned up.

Old fields to new fields

Historical values mapped from old fields into the fields your team uses now, so reports cover the full history.

Dates and owners

Original created dates kept, with an "Original Created Date/Time" field where needed, and owners mapped including people who have left.

Reconnected after

Triggers and connected apps paused for the load turned back on and tested.

Working with us

Legacy system to Salesforce migration FAQ

Our old system has no export. Can you still migrate it?

If it has an API, yes: we pull the data and documents through it. If it has a database, we extract from the tables.

What if our data does not fit Salesforce's standard objects?

We build custom objects for it before the load, planned from a review of your data and storage.

Can you migrate EMR data?

Yes. We have uploaded historical records from Kipu and Sunwave into Salesforce, and we sign BAAs for healthcare work.

Will documents eat up our Salesforce storage?

Documents go into Salesforce Files, which use file storage, not data storage. We review storage before the load.

Can call and text history come over?

Yes. Historical call data and SMS history load as activities on the right records.

How is it priced?

By project, not by the hour. The first call is free, and you get a project quote after it.
