Journeys Through Search

Marketing attribution for CRMSee which channel brought in every lead and every sale.

Your ad platforms count clicks. Your CRM knows who became a customer. We put the source on every call, form, chat, text and WhatsApp lead, set lead source rules in your CRM, and send the results back to Google Ads, Microsoft Ads and Meta, so your reports follow each channel all the way to revenue.

  • First and last click on every lead, from every channel
  • Lead source set by rules in your CRM
  • Offline conversions and reports to revenue

How a lead keeps its source

  1. 1
    Capture the visit

A first-party cookie keeps the landing page, referrer and click IDs while the visitor browses

  2. 2
    Carry it to the lead

Hidden fields, chat fields and call tracking pass it into the CRM with each lead

  3. 3
    Report and send back

Lead source rules, dashboards to revenue, and outcomes sent back to the ad platforms

Five fields that follow every lead

Attribution starts on the first visit. A first-party cookie on your own domain stores the landing page and referring domain, and updates them on the next visit. When the visitor converts, five hidden fields go with the lead: the first and last click landing page URL, the first and last click referring domain, and the page they converted on.

Click IDs ride along too: GCLID, GBRAID and WBRAID for Google Ads, and MSCLKID for Microsoft Ads. Calls get the same treatment through call tracking numbers, and chats and texts get the cookie values in their own fields.

In the CRM, lead source rules turn those fields into a lead source you can report on. We keep the original source and the latest one, so first click and last click are both there. Then the leads that qualify or close are sent back to the ad platforms as offline conversions.

What's included

What marketing attribution for CRM includes

First-party cookies

The landing page and referring domain stored in a cookie on your own domain, for first click and last click.

The five hidden fields

First and last click landing page URL, first and last click referring domain, and the converting page URL on every form.

Click IDs and UTMs

GCLID, GBRAID, WBRAID and MSCLKID captured with UTM parameters, and parsed from the landing page URL into their own fields.

Calls with a source

Call tracking numbers from CallTrackingMetrics or CallRail, so each call reaches the CRM with its source and campaign.

Chats, texts and WhatsApp

Tracking cookie values passed into chat and texting fields, and WhatsApp chats matched to the click that started them.

Lead source rules

Rules in your CRM that set the lead source from the tracking fields, with the original and the latest source both kept, and a manual override where your team needs one.

Brand and non-brand

Branded and non-branded Google Ads searches reported as separate sources, so your brand does not inflate paid results.

Offline conversions

Qualified leads and sales sent back to Google Ads, Microsoft Ads and Meta, so the ad platforms bid on what turns into customers.

Reports to revenue

Dashboards in your CRM or Looker Studio with leads, qualified leads and sales by source, and daily checks for leads missing a source.

Privacy and consent

Tracking that follows your cookie banner and Google Consent Mode, with Global Privacy Control treated as a no.

  2. 2Which campaigns bring admits

Every campaign across the ad platforms. Leads, opportunities, and admits per campaign. Conversion rates for each. (client dashboard, names replaced)

  3. 3Which web forms convert

One row per form. Leads, opportunities, and admits per form. Conversion rates for each. (client dashboard, names replaced)

  4. 4Which referral sources send admits

Marketing attribution for CRM FAQ

First click or last click: which one do you use?

Both are stored on the lead. You choose which one sets the lead source, and the other stays on the record for reporting.

Does it cover phone calls?

Yes. Call tracking numbers from CallTrackingMetrics or CallRail pass the source with each call, and the call is logged in the CRM.

What about chats, texts and WhatsApp?

Chat and texting widgets get the tracking cookie values in their own fields. WhatsApp chats are matched to the click that started them.

Can sales be sent back to the ad platforms?

Yes. With the click ID on the lead, qualified leads and sales are sent back to Google Ads, Microsoft Ads and Meta as offline conversions.

We are a healthcare provider. What gets sent back?

The outcome, such as an insured lead or an admit, with a time and a value if you use one. No diagnosis, treatment or insurance plan details.

How do you handle cookie consent?

Tracking follows your cookie banner and Google Consent Mode, and a browser that sends Global Privacy Control is treated as a no. This is general guidance, not legal advice: check the rules that apply to you with your legal team.

Where do we see the results?

In dashboards in your CRM or Looker Studio. For a fully custom dashboard, our sister company TrussCharts builds them.

How is it priced?

By project, not by the hour. The first call is free, and you get a project quote after it.
