Journeys Through Search

Salesforce healthcare referral managementEvery referral partner, every referral in and out, and every BD visit, on one record.

Referral partners send you patients, and you send patients to them. We set up Salesforce so each referral source is an account with its contacts, every inbound and outbound referral is tied to the patient, BD reps log their visits and calls, and leadership sees which relationships are growing and which need attention.

  • Referral sources as accounts and contacts
  • Inbound and outbound referrals tracked on each patient
  • BD rep activity, flag rules and volume tiers
  • BD dashboards and a map of active referral accounts

How referrals move through Salesforce

  1. 1
    Referral comes in

The lead is tied to the referring account and contact at intake

  2. 2
    Patient moves through

Admits credit the source, and outbound referrals are logged with a date and reason

  3. 3
    BD acts on it

Reps see volume, flags and overdue follow-ups for each account they own

How referral management works in Salesforce

Referral sources are business accounts: hospitals, therapists, interventionists, sober living homes and other providers. The people you deal with are contacts under them. Patients stay separate as person accounts, and lookups are filtered so a rep cannot pick a patient where a referral source belongs, or the other way round.

Every lead and opportunity carries its referral source and referring contact, so admits are credited to the partner who sent them. When your team refers a patient out, the outbound referral is logged on the opportunity with the date, the receiving provider and the reason, and alerts tell the BD owner it happened.

BD reps get their own tab, page layouts and list views. Each account has a type, a referral volume tier and a relationship status, and flag rules call out accounts that have gone quiet or need a visit.

Dashboards show referrals in and out by account, by rep and by month, with overdue BD tasks listed. With Salesforce Maps, reps can see their accounts with active referrals on a map and plan their routes.

Salesforce healthcare referral management FAQ

How do you keep referral sources apart from patients?

Referral sources are business accounts and patients are person accounts. Lookups are filtered so each field only shows the right kind.

Can we track referrals we send out?

Yes. Outbound referrals are logged on the opportunity with a date, the receiving provider and a reason, and the BD owner gets an alert.

Can the EMR keep the referral source?

Yes. When Salesforce is connected to your EMR, the referral source can travel with the patient. See Sunwave + Salesforce and Kipu + Salesforce.

What do BD reps see?

Their own tab and list views, the accounts they own with volume tiers and flags, and their overdue follow-ups.

Can we load our existing referral lists?

Yes. We clean and load your partner and prospect lists, with duplicate rules so they stay clean.

Do you sign a BAA?

Yes. We sign BAAs for healthcare work.

Are you a Salesforce partner?

Yes. Journeys Through Search is a Salesforce partner.

How is it priced?

By project, not by the hour. The first call is free, and you get a project quote after it.
